Posh Women

Posh Women begin their Northants FA County Cup action on Sunday afternoon.

Peterborough United Women travel to Redwell Leisure Centre on Sunday afternoon (1:30pm) as they face Kettering Town Women in the second round of the Northamptonshire FA County Cup.

After a resilient performance in the 1-0 defeat to Championship side Durham in the FA Cup, Dan Lawlor’s side will look to keep up that level of performance for Sunday’s fixture as they begin their County Cup campaign.

Kettering Town Women’s previous game saw a 3-2 defeat to Arnold Eagles FC in the East Midlands Women's Regional Football League Cup, so will no doubt be looking to bounce back with a victory this weekend.

Team News

Posh will be without midfielders Beatriz Borque and Stacey McConville for this weekend’s fixture, as well as defender Elloise Copson and forward Zaiga Lacite who all remain unavailable due to lengthy spell on the sidelines.

In positive news for Lawlor’s side, their new signing of former Leicester City Women midfielder Rachel Lawrence will be available for the team selection on Sunday.

Kettering Town Women’s Lauren Adams will be there to cause trouble for the Posh defence, scoring 16 goals in eight appearances for the club.

From The First Team Coach

“They’re definitely going to want to beat us. We know that and we know we have to be on our best game. We have to feel confident in the way that we’ve been playing and back ourselves 100%. It's definitely a competition we want to win, plus It's another opportunity for silverware. Now we’ve exited the FA Cup, our full attention is on this and the league.

“We have a relatively small squad at the minute. It will look very similar to what we’ve had recently, and hopefully, with people slowly starting to come back we can add to it, but we have what we have and we keep marching on.”
