Peterborough United Under 18s resume service on Tuesday afternoon (12pm) with a trip to Coventry City in the Professional Development League.
Jimmy Unwin’s side are on their travels in midweek as they look to put Saturday’s result behind them with a positive result against the Sky Blues.
Riley Hilaire-Clarke’s double inspired the young Bluebirds to victory in our last outing, but with five games left of the regular season, our youngsters will be looking to make an impression on Tuesday as they aim to secure the best possible seeding.
Coventry City lies the task at hand, who delivered a 2-1 victory over Millwall on the weekend, extending their winning run to seven games.
Josh Gordon’s strike was the difference between the two sides in the reverse fixture, beating our Under 18s by the odd goal at the idverde Training Ground.
TEAM NEWS
A similar team is expected to take to the field from the weekend, with Benji McWilliams-Marcano (who faces a late fitness test) potentially coming into the mix.
THE OPPOSITION
Coventry City sit third in the southern section, having picked up 48 points from 28 league matches. Leigh Kingsbeer’s young Sky Blues have seen 15 victories, three draws, and ten defeats over the course of the term. City head into the fixture on red-hot form, having lost once in ten games, including seven victories across the stretch.
FROM THE MANAGER
Professional Development Phase (Under 18s) Lead Coach Jimmy Unwin said ahead of the game: “We’re looking forward to the test. It’s always a good test against Coventry; they do similar to us in terms of player development, so it should be a good chance for our boys to go up there and test themselves."
UPDATES
Updates of the game will be available on The Posh Academy X account.
VENUE
The fixture will take place at the Alan Higgs Training Centre.
