A look ahead to Tuesday’s Professional U-23 Development League trip to Barnsley where Ryan Semple’s men will hope to get back to winning ways (1pm).
Peterborough United Under 21s will travel to South Yorkshire this Tuesday afternoon as they look to add another three points to the strong start they have made so far this campaign.
So far this season Posh Under 21s have taken six points from their first possible nine with impressive wins against Bournemouth and Colchester before being beaten last time out. In the side’s last league fixture Posh were beaten narrowly 2-1 on a cloudy afternoon. That day the hosts Millwall scored a double of penalties which was only replied by David Kamara’s strike on the half hour mark.
THE OPPOSITION
Tuesday’s hosts Barnsley have had a tough start to their 2024/25 campaign with has seen them pick up just seven points from their opening seven fixtures. Their record stands at two wins, one draw and four losses, they will be hoping to upset the travelling Posh side claiming their third win of the season. Last time out, Barnsley Under 21s were defeated by Wigan Athletic 2-0 in the Professional Development League. Goals from Theo Chapman and Aiden Marsh stopped the Tykes from taking any points from the game. Barnsley Under 21s are managed by former reds defender, Nicky Eaden and Tom Harban.
FROM THE MANAGER
Professional Development Phase Lead Coach Ryan Semple has confirmed that he will have a similar squad available for selection to the one which was beaten away to Peterborough Sports in the Northants Senior Hillier Cup last Tuesday. He has confirmed that there is no new injuries ahead of the clash.
Semple said: “We are really looking forward to the game and we are hoping to bounce back with a performance that is one with real energy and be ruthless in the final third. Barnsley will be a real test, we have played against them a number of times. They put you under pressure and always have high energy and we will have to be at a high level in all areas of the game to get a good performance so we can come out successful at the end of the 90 minutes.”
