Accrington Stanley

A look ahead to the trip to Accrington Stanley on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).

Peterborough United make trip to the Wham Stadium on Tuesday evening to face John Coleman’s Accrington Stanley in Sky Bet League One action (7.45pm) with Darren Ferguson’s men looking to bounce back from Saturday’s local derby defeat to Cambridge United.

Stanley were beaten 5-2 at home by Fleetwood Town at the weekend with former Posh striker Jack Marriott netting a hat-trick. Coleman’s men are fighting for their lives in the relegation zone of the league table and will be desperate for the three points against Posh.

TEAM NEWS

Joe Ward remains a doubt for the game with a foot injury with conclusive scan results still being awaited. Ricky-Jade Jones is definitely out with a hamstring injury, but nobody else is expected to be missing with just the usual ‘bumps and bruises’ following the clash at the Abbey Stadium.

Accrington will be without the suspended Liam Coyle, who was shown a straight red card in the defeat to Fleetwood. Mo Sangare is set to replace him in the hosts' engine room.

Joe Williams and club captain Seamus Conneely are unlikely to be involved due to injury, but Tommy Leigh and Ethan Hamilton returned to start against Scott Brown's side in a massive boost for Coleman as he attempts to keep the club up.

ONE TO WATCH

Midfielder Ethan Hamilton (pictured below) played a major role in helping Posh to promotion back in 2020, in fact his performance off the bench against Lincoln City, a 3-3 draw that secured a return to the Championship, was driven from the middle of the park by Hamilton. A powerful runner, he has a wand of a left-foot, scores goals from distance and will definitely be pumped up for the clash against his former employees.

FROM THE GAFFER

“Accrington and John Coleman have done remarkably well over the last few seasons and I can say that whenever I have gone to Accrington as a manager, it has been a difficult encounter. They are fighting for their lives, it is a game where there is quite a bit riding on it. I am looking for a reaction from the players from the weekend, we have gone through it today (Monday) and we now need to put a performance in at Accrington,” Darren Ferguson said.
