matchdayguide

We bring you a guide to Saturday’s local derby with a sell-out crowd expected at the Weston Homes Stadium.

It has been 21 years since the last local derby between Peterborough United and Cambridge United in the league. On Saturday, the two meet at the Weston Homes Stadium with the action getting underway at 3pm.

Given over 12,500 supporters are set to pack into the stadium, the club are urging supporters to arrive early to risk large queues forming at the turnstiles. The later you arrive, the more chance you have of missing the kick-off and you won’t want to miss any of the action!

Given the magnitude of the game, we have put together some important points that you should be aware of if you are coming to the game.

OPENING TIMES

The Ticket Office at the stadium and the Club Shop will be open from 10am. Those who have yet to collect their tickets for the game can do so from the Ticket Office until 12pm with the Collection Booth taking over those pre-paid purchases from 12pm.

Remember, those supporters watching the game from the Meerkat Family Stand can also purchase merchandise from the shop within the concourse.

PARKING

Supporters are advised to park in a host of council-run pay and display car parks within the city centre and walk to the stadium. The Fair Meadow Car Park, which is opposite the stadium is the closest of these but will fill up quickly so arrive early to take advantage of the close proximity.

You can view full details of parking options within the club's New Fan Guide, which can be found here

CASHLESS

The Weston Homes Stadium is a Cashless stadium. Therefore all purchases for food and drink, merchandise and programmes must be paid by card.

MATCH DAY PROGRAMME

The match day programme, which features Posh skipper Jonson Clarke-Harris (and his dog) on the front cover, is available to purchase from the Club Shop, refreshment kiosks and sellers around the ground priced at £3.50.

This issue features an exclusive interview with JCH, the latest from the Academy, Women’s team and Foundation and more from manager Grant McCann. The 68-page edition will also be available to purchase online.

PRE-MATCH

Mascot Peter Burrow will be out and about around the ground ahead of kick-off and Mick the Skip (Mick George) and Peeby (Pricebuild) will also be in attendance. The players from both sides are expected to begin their warm-up at 2.20pm with the players emerging from the tunnel at 2.55pm ahead of the 3pm kick-off.

HALF-TIME

At half-time, we will have our usual entertainment with the Mick George Skip Challenge and the Peeby penalty shoot-out. We will also bring you some selected half-times as well as birthday messages and announcements.

FOOD OPTIONS

There are refreshment kiosks inside the stadium serving hot and cold food & drinks and confectionary.

POST-MATCH

We would like to make supporters aware that London Road (from the Peacock Pub), Town Bridge up until the junction with the Premier Inn Hotel (including adjacent roads) will be closed briefly following the local derby.

The closure will be in effect for approximately 15-30 minutes and is designed to allow supporters to leave the stadium safely. A sell-out crowd is expected for the first league meeting between the two sides since 2001. The club would like to thank everyone for their understanding on this matter.

MESSAGE FROM THE CLUB

We want everyone who attends the Weston Homes Stadium to enjoy the game safely. We urge both sets of supporters to adhere to all requests around safety and will be operating a zero-tolerance approach to any disorder. The club wish to remind fans it is an offence to use pyrotechnics within the stadium.

Supporters are also reminded that they can text a number if incidents happen around them in the stadium such as abuse, anti-social behaviour or any incident you feel needs a steward’s attention. Your text message will go direct to the control room within a minute and staff will monitor the situation immediately. Just text PUFC followed by your message to 60066.
