Kyrell Lisbie scored his first hat-trick in the EFL as Posh romped to a 6-1 victory over Wigan Athletic at the Weston Homes Stadium.
There were so many stories coming out of Peterborough United's 6-1 victory over Wigan Athletic that it is hard to know where to start, but you can't ignore a first hat-trick in the EFL and Kyrell Lisbie can take a deserved centre stage.
Lisbie scored twice in the first 10 minutes with both goals thanks to assists from defender Tom Lees while substitute Pemi Aderoju climbed off the substitutes bench to net his first goal in the EFL.
Winger Lisbie completed his hat-trick late on following a back-heeled assist from another substitute Declan Frith as Luke Williams' men bounced back from two successive defeats in fine style.
The deadlock was broken on six minutes as Lees played a one-two down the right before delivering an inch-perfect cross for LISBIE to tap home at the back post.
On nine minutes, Posh made it 2-0 and it was the same two players involved, a quickly-taken free-kick from Archie Collins found Cian Hayes, his cross to the back post was nodded back across goal by Lees and LISBIE was there to nod past Tickle.
Posh had the ball in the back of the net again on 19 minutes as Leonard tapped home, but the offside flag was raised and the goal was chalked off.
On 26 minutes, Wigan pulled a goal back as former Posh striker Joe TAYLOR took advantage of a poor defensive error to sweep a right-footed effort past Bass and into the corner from close-range.
Five minutes before the break, Posh restored their two-goal cushion as a long ball forward was flicked on by Leonard into the path of MORGAN, his initial effort hit the crossbar but he bravely headed home the rebound.
Posh should have had a spot-kick on 42 minutes as Leonard was felled in the box but the referee waved away the protests. Bass made a good stop to keep out substitute Murray on 59 minutes, before Posh made it 4-1 as LEONARD headed home from close-range after a delicious cross from Morgan.
Frith could have made it five but fired over after chopping inside the full-back before Lisbie and Asamoah were both cautioned. On 83 minutes, Posh did make it five and it was a first senior goal for Pemi ADEROJU who collected a Khela pass before firing low past Tickle.
Bass kept out a low drive from Vickers before Posh hit the bar through James Dornelly following a Collins corner. The scoring was complete a minute from time and it was a hat-trick secured for LISBIE who came alive in the box to fire past Tickle after a back-heel from Frith.
