Harry Leonard celebrates scoring

Harry Leonard earned Posh a point from their Sky Bet League One fixture with Burton Albion at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Peterborough United extended the advantage from the drop zone to four points after a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Burton Albion with striker Harry Leonard netting his 15th goal of the campaign.

Leonard fired a low effort into the bottom corner after the visitors had taken a first-half lead through a deflected effort from Charlie Webster

There were big moments in the contest with both sides squandering huge chances to score - James Dornelly headed a Matt Garbett corner kick wide of the target before Tyrese Shade somehow fired over from close range.

The deadlock was broken by the visitors two minutes before half-time as WEBSTER met a low cross and his effort flew past Alex Bass via a deflection off the foot of James Dornelly.

Posh came out in the second half with determination and found an equaliser as LEONARD drilled a shot into the corner, moments after he had fired wide from a similar distance.

Garbett, who saw a first half free-kick saved by Collins, was a driving force from the middle of the park and his set-piece should have yielded another goal but Dornelly again failed to hit the target.

Posh had appeals for a spot-kick turned down as substitute Declan Frith went down in the box, but there were no further opportunities and the game ended level.

Posh travel to Stockport County next Saturday lunchtime before closing out the season with back-to-back home games against Mansfield Town and Doncaster Rovers.
