Carlisle United v Posh

Three points turned into one as Carlisle score deep into stoppage time to earn a 1-1 draw.

Peterborough United deserved all three points and almost had them pocketed until a 95th minute equaliser from Jordan Gibson, which took a huge deflection and somehow found the bottom corner of the net.

Posh made a positive start to the contest and should have opened the scoring inside the opening two minutes as Ricky-Jade Jones’ cross was left by Ephron Mason-Clark into the path of Jonson Clarke-Harris, but he skied his effort over the crossbar.

The Posh number nine saw a shot on the turn deflect wide of the target moments later after good work from Peter Kioso. Clarke-Harris was superbly denied by Holy on 23 minutes after he linked well with Mason-Clark following a swift Posh counter-attack.

Moments later, Holy did well to keep out a fierce snap-shot from Mason-Clark at the near post as the ball broke loose in the penalty area. David Ajiboye saw a shot blocked on 28 minutes with Ryan De Havilland firing the loose ball from distance over the crossbar.

Joe Garner sent an audacious volley from 40-yards over the crossbar on 34 minutes as he attempted to take advantage of a high position from Bilokapic. Moxon sliced a shot wide of the target three minutes later after good work from Sean Maguire, first to find space in behind and secondly to retain possession after Josh Knight sent him wide.

On the stroke of half-time, Jones saw a shot deflect into the side-netting before Clarke-Harris saw a left-foot volley routinely kept out by Holy. Holy produced a decent save to tip over a fierce curler from Mason-Clark on 51 minutes after a progressive pass from De Havilland.

Knight produced a fine block to keep out a goalbound curler from Gibson on 52 minutes with Moxon’s resulting corner causing a bit of panic before Bilokapic claimed. Darren Ferguson made a double change on 55 minutes with Kwame Poku and Joel Randall replacing Ajiboye and Jones.

Holy did well to beat away a fierce long-ranger from Randall on the hour mark as Posh pushed to try and find the opening goal in the game. The home side had appeals for a spot-kick turned down by the referee on 65 minutes as the ball appeared to strike the arm of Kioso inside the area.

On 72 minutes, Posh got their noses in front and it was a first goal for the club for Ronnie EDWARDS as he met Joel Randall’s centre with a bullet of a header at the near post. Fin Back was cautioned for a foul on Mason-Clark on 75 minutes by the touch-line.

The fourth official indicated a minimum of five minutes added time at the end of the 90. Moxon went into the book for a foul on Collins three minutes into stoppage time. Deep into that stoppage time, the home side found an unlikely leveller as a shot from distance from GIBSON took a huge deflection and found the bottom corner.
