Posh celebrate

Hector Kyprianou bags winner as Posh make it back to back away wins with a battling 2-1 success in Shropshire.

Peterborough United are inside the top two of Sky Bet League One at Christmas after a battling 2-1 victory at Shrewsbury on a blustery day in Shropshire.

On a difficult pitch, Darren Ferguson's men carved out the best opportunities in the first half with Ricky-Jade Jones firing wide after a good through ball.

Jones clipped the top of the crossbar with his left-foot effort on 28 minutes, while Burrows saw a shot blocked after good work from Mason-Clark. 

Bowman and Mason-Clark were both cautioned for grappling at a corner kick before Kyprianou fired inches wide with the aid of a deflection.

On 57 minutes, the home side opened the scoring in freak circumstances as a cross from SHIPLEY carried on the wind and found the top corner.

On 64 minutes, Posh levelled the scores as JONES superbly finished with his right-foot after a perfectly timed pass from Kyprianou.

Poku headed over at the back post after good work from Randall on 74 minutes before Mason-Clark was superbly denied by the keeper after good work from Burrows. 

On 77 minutes, Posh got their noses in front after excellent work from substitute David Ajiboye down the right, he crossed in for KYPRIANOU, he saw his initial effort saved but was there to follow up the rebound.

Jones fired over the bar on 79 minutes and then Burrows struck the outside of the post as Posh pushed for a third goal.

In the dying moments, the hosts struck the crossbar from a corner, but Posh claimed all three points to remain insdie the top two at Christmas.
