Posh v Shrewsbury Town

Josh Knight scored the winner as Posh came from behind to beat Shrewsbury Town 2-1 at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Peterborough United remain in the automatic promotion places as Darren Ferguson’s men made it three straight wins in Sky Bet League One since the turn of the year with Josh Knight heading home the winner as Darren Ferguson’s men came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Shrewsbury Town at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Posh carved out the first opportunity of the game as Ephron Mason-Clark threaded a neat pass to Ricky-Jade Jones, but he saw his effort kept out by goalkeeper Burgoyne. Jed Steer did well to keep out a low effort from Tom Bloxham on 19 minutes as the visitors caused a threat.

Jordan Shipley saw a shot loop over the crossbar via a deflection and on 27 minutes, Posh were so close to the breakthrough and what a goal it would have been, Mason-Clark with an acrobatic over-head kick which was cleared off the line by Sraha.

Jones saw a shot kept out by Burgoyne after his blistering pace saw him burst past the defender. Kyprianou headed wide from a Burrows cross on 32 minutes while Mason-Clark headed wide from a deep Ajiboye centre.

Randall saw a shot clawed around the post by the keeper after good work from Mason-Clark on 38 minutes before the visitors opened the scoring as SHIPLEY found the bottom corner from the edge of the box after a corner was only half-cleared by Burrows.

Mason-Clark was close to finding a leveller within a minute of the second half after cutting inside onto his right-foot but again Burgoyne was there to beat away the effort with Archie Collins seeing a looping volley saved.

On 50 minutes, Posh drew themselves level and it was a beautiful move, Ajiboye picking out Katongo with a reverse pass and his lovely cross was tapped home from close-range by RANDALL. Posh got themselves in front on 67 minutes as a deep corner from Burrows was powered into the back of the net at the back post by Josh KNIGHT.

Shipley fired into the side-netting from an acute angle on 78 minutes while Posh squandered a chance to make it 3-1 in stoppage time as Randall raced clear after good work from Mason-Clark, but his strike hit the foot of the post.
