We are absolutely thrilled to announce the signing of Milton Keynes Dons midfielder Liam Kelly for an undisclosed fee on a long-term contract.
The 30-year-old, who was named in the Sky Bet League Two Team of the Season last term and scooped the MK Dons Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season, completed the paperwork at the Bespoke Builds Training Ground on Thursday.
Kelly, who has over 300 career games under his belt, started his career at Reading and has represented Crawley Town, Oxford United and Rochdale as well as a short spell with Feyenoord.
Manager Luke Williams is delighted to secure his services. "Liam is a really talented player, an experienced midfielder who joins us off the back of a brilliant season with Milton Keynes Dons.
"I think it is a really positive signing, he will bring quality and help us control the middle of the pitch and I am really looking forward to working with him. He is someone that can handle the ball, read the game, understand the opposition from a tactical point of view and he will be a real asset to us."
Kelly said: "It has been in the works for a few weeks. There was interest there, that is a nice feeling to feel wanted and Peterborough have really been keen on bringing me to the club.
"For me and my career, I felt this was a great move for me and I can't wait to get started. Last season went really well as a team and also on a personal level, so it was always a difficult decision to leave, but the manager here has played a massive part in bringing me to the club.
"He is someone that I have known about for a while, I have come up against his teams before and they are tough to play against, I have spoken to a lot of players who have played under him and they have all spoken very highly of the gaffer.
"When I heard about the move, it was something that I was really excited about. Hopefully I can help the younger lads in the group with my experience and hopefully I can learn a few things from them too."
