David Kamara

Striker David Kamara has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract at the Football Club.

It was a memorable day for striker David Kamara on Wednesday, agreeing a new long-term contract at the club and then scoring twice as the Under 21s ran out 5-0 winners over Crewe Alexandra at the Weston Homes Stadium.

The 19-year-old is set to go out on-loan to continue his footballing education (with a recall) after returning from a long-term injury earlier this year.

Lead Under 21 Coach Sam Gaughran said: "I am delighted for David on signing his new contract. David has had some injury setbacks since signing for the club, but his attitude and application every day has been superb and he thoroughly deserves his new deal."

Kamara was quick to thank the coaches for all their help. "I am so happy to sign a new deal. I want to say a huge thank you to all of the coaches I have worked with so far because they have really helped me with my game.

"When I first joined, I was running all over the place, without any real control, but I now feel that I am improving in all aspects of my game and I am really looking forward to continuing my development.

"It was obviously a good day on Wednesday, signing the deal and then scoring twice for the Under 21s. The first goal was more of a number nine finish and I am trying to make those runs in and around the six-yard box. The second one is probably the best goal I have scored in terms of the strike, particularly on my left-foot. I want to try and help my team-mates as much as I can when I am involved, but I am also looking forward to getting more experience out on-loan," Kamara said.
