David Kamara scored twice, his first goals in the Football League, as Posh ran out 5-0 winners over Rotherham United at the Weston Homes Stadium.
It was a memorable evening in PE2 on Tuesday night as Peterborough United recorded an emphatic 5-0 victory over Rotherham United in Sky Bet League One action with David Kamara scoring a brace of penalties.
It was a comfortable evening for Luke Williams' men, although goalkeeper Alex Bass deserves credit for his fine stop from close-range to deny Sam Nombe with the score at 2-0.
The win moved Posh up a place to 13th in the table, eight points clear of the drop zone with a game in hand, but more importantly reinstalled confidence after a disappointing defeat to Leyton Orient at the weekend.
The deadlock was broken on 16 minutes as Kyrell LISBIE raced onto a floated pass from Harley Mills and dispatched a low shot past Cann and into the back of the net.
Posh continued to dominate the ball and on 39 minutes got the second goal that dominance deserved as Jimmy-Jay MORGAN made it two goals with his head in two games, glancing home another excellent Archie Collins delivery.
Morgan saw a stinging drive saved by Cann on 41 minutes as Posh threatened a third goal before the interval. Skipper Peter Kioso saw a swerving effort parried by Cann six minutes into the second half and three minutes later, Cann produced an even better stop, keeping out a Morgan effort from close-range after excellent football from Posh.
On 62 minutes, Bass produced a fine stop to keep out Nombe from close-range after a spell of pressure from the visitors. On 65 minutes, substitute Patryk Sykut picked out Lisbie down the left and he was upended in the box for a spot-kick.
Substitute David KAMARA stepped up from 12-yards and coolly slotted the ball into the back of the net via the inside of the post. On 74 minutes, Posh were awarded another penalty as Cian Hayes was upended in the box and KAMARA did the honours again, sending the keeper the wrong way.
On 80 minutes, Posh made it 5-0 and it was a deserved goal for COLLINS who linked superbly with another substitute Declan Frith before firing low under the keeper.
