Posh were once again victorious in a midday clash against Wigan Athletic Under 21s.
A Carl Johnston brace and goals from Gustav Lindgren and James Dornelly were enough to see Posh gain three points in the Professional Development League.
Wigan started on the front foot with a chance not even 10 seconds in, as Simms blasted over from an acute angle. Posh got on top, and after 14 minutes, Lindgren was played in behind the full-back, and got his cross in to Patryk Sykut who saw his effort parried for a corner.
It took 25 minutes for the deadlock to be broken, as Gustav LINDGREN finished off a good team move to put the Posh ahead with a clever flick at the near post.
The Latics didn’t given in easily, as they got a flurry of shots away, with the biggest chance being a long-range effort by Harrison Rimmer was pushed away by Bastian Smith.
Posh could have doubled the lead on 36 minutes as David Kamara found room in the box and saw his effort crash against the base of the post with Sykut denied on the follow-up.
Posh reaped the rewards from the onslaught of pressure as Carl JOHNSTON pounced on a light pass from Wigan goalkeeper, rounded the keeper effortlessly and slotted the ball into the empty net.
It was Posh who started the second half better too as multiple crosses from Mills on the left flank found Lindgren and Kamara respectively, who both found their efforts narrowly miss the target.
Posh got their third of the afternoon on the hour mark, as a lofted set piece found Mendonca who headed across and James DORNELLY was in the right place at the right time to head home.
Shortly after this, Posh made a double change with Gustav Lindgren and David Okagbue replaced by Bolt Shofowoke and Fabian Claxton. It was 4-0 to Posh just after the hour mark as Harley Mills picked out JOHNSTON who placed the ball into the back of the net for his second of the afternoon.
Posh Under 21’s are on the road next week as they face Hull City U21’s at the Bishop Burton College.
