Darcy Guy

Posh Women bolster goalkeeping ranks for the 2023/24 campaign.

Peterborough United Women are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Darcy Guy from MK Dons Women for the 2023/24 FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands campaign.

Dan Lawlor bolsters his goalkeeping ranks after Charlotte Hastings announced her retirement last month, with Guy having spent the last few weeks training with the side and will go straight into the matchday squad for tonight’s game against Notts County Women.

Guy, who has spent the majority of her career at Dons, progressing through the academy to feature for the first team, felt it was the right decision for a new challenge and is looking forward to building a partnership with Neive Corry.

“I’m really excited to have joined the club,” Guy said. “It’s a really nice environment to be in and as soon as I started training with the players, I knew it was the right choice for me after the support from the coaching staff and the players. It was a hard decision to leave MK Dons, especially after being there for a very long time, but I knew it was the right decision for me to join Posh.”

“I know a couple of the players that are already here, I have played with Renai [Bennett] for a long, long time but seeing how happy she has been since joining and the opportunities the club has already given her, that definitely attracted me to come here. It has always been a positive club from the outside and has been very welcoming to everyone since I have walked through the door.

“We already got a good goalkeeper union, me and Neive [Corry] already get on really well. We are at the same point in our careers, so we can learn a lot from eachother. It’s never going to be easy to join a club halfway through the season, but I know I’m ready to go on this journey.”

Manager Dan Lawlor said: “We are really happy to have signed Darcy. She has been to a couple of training sessions now and you can see she has slotted straight in with all the other players. A young goalkeeper that will provide Neive [Corry] with some healthy competition, as you need two goalkeepers to help push the best out of eachother. It’s a really important addition for us and we are delighted to have her on board for the season."
