Family Excellence Award

`Peterborough United has been awarded with a Family Excellence Gold Award for the 2024/25 season for outstanding work in delivering an unforgettable matchday experience for families.

This recognises our continued ambition to provide the best possible experience for supporters at the Weston Homes Stadium and represents an improvement on last season’s silver award. We are one of only 18 clubs across the EFL to receive the Family Excellence Gold Award and finished fourth across all EFL clubs in terms of overall rating for the scheme.

The EFL’s Family Excellence Scheme assesses the matchday experience provided for families. Throughout the season, we received two visits from family assessors who evaluate the matchday experience for families from purchasing tickets right through to the moment they leave the stadium. The family assessors consider the quality of matchday activations and experience, stadium accessibility and facilities, retail and refreshments, as well as how well we communicate with families.

Posh CEO, Dawn Gore said on the news of the award: “At the start of the season we set a number of objectives and one of those was to try and attain a Family Excellence Gold Award. I am really pleased how the team came together to work on the areas that we knew would help us move from silver to gold and a lot of credit goes to everyone involved and that is not just full-time employees, that is our matchday staff, our team of volunteers, everybody has played their part.

“To be ranked fourth in the entire EFL is an excellent achievement, but there are still areas that we know we can improve and we will be working hard to do so over the course of the 2025/26 campaign.”

For another consecutive year, a record number of EFL Clubs have achieved Family Excellence recognition. The scheme awards EFL Clubs with either gold, silver or bronze status based on the matchday experience they provide to families.

EFL Chief Executive Officer, Trevor Birch said: “We are incredibly proud of the effort all our Clubs put in to ensure the matchday experience is a welcoming and enjoyable one for all families. To see more Clubs than ever before receive Family Excellence recognition is testament to the unforgettable day out our Clubs work hard to deliver for families up and down the country. The scheme is designed to support Clubs and we have seen it help them to expand their ever-growing fanbases and attract the next generation of supporters.”
