Davon Gbajumo

We can confirm that young defender Davon Gbajumo has joined Sky Bet Championship side Southampton.

Peterborough United can confirm that youngster Davon Gbajumo has joined Sky Bet Championship side Southampton after the two clubs agreed a deal.

The 17-year-old left-back will initially link up with Andrew Surman's Under 18s side as he completes his scholarship years with the Saints.

Gbajumo joined Posh in 2024 and has been a regular in the Under 18s and featured in the Under 21s, as well as during pre-season.

Academy Director Dan Robinson said: "This is a great opportunity for one of our young players to continue his journey at a top club. He is not a player that we had been pushing to leave the Football Club, but this move clearly demonstrates that he has been monitored by Southampton and we felt it was a great opportunity for him and a good deal for us as a club to allow him to go and make this move.

"Davon is a good character and has a lovely family. It is another example of the attention that our Academy is receiving and that is down to the hard work of the staff and the backing we get from the top down.

"The Academy is producing players not only for the first team here at Peterborough United, but also producing good people and Davon is a great example of that."
