Matt Garbett celebrates

After a summer of heartache, it is understandable that midfielder Matt Garbett was keen to enjoy the moment as he bagged a last-minute equaliser to earn Posh a point against Burton Albion.

It was particularly special for Garbett given his disappointment less than 10 minutes earlier as he took responsibility for the part he played in the Brewers second goal - albeit it was an audacious strike.

Garbett spoke about his determination to learn from the error, but admitted it was a 'great feeling' to celebrate after the events of the summer.

"I have to take responsibility for my part in their goal, I was feeling confident because I felt my actions in the game were positive prior to that, but maybe I got a little over confident. I know that I needed to move the ball quicker.

"It was frustrating, but I think I, and the team, showed a lot of character to get something from a game that I felt we deserved something from.

"The equaliser was a great feeling and it was brilliant to celebrate in the manner that we did. For me personally, I have spoken on the podcast about the summer and the disappointment at missing out on the World Cup, but I hope I have two more in me and my focus now is to make an impact on this team.

"I know that I am not match fit yet. The manager asked if I was ready to start and I was honest and said 'no' because it has been a long time working my way back to fitness. I am pleased that I have got more minutes in my legs, there is a lot of games coming up, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday and hopefully I can contribute.

"It was a rollercoaster of emotions today, but that can happen. The manager has come in and given everyone a real lift, there is a real shift in the culture and everybody is enjoying it," Garbett said.
