Posh players celebrate scoring

Matt Garbett climbed off the substitutes bench to earn Posh a point with a last-gasp equaliser against Burton Albion at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Robbie Savage's Peterborough United earned a point against Burton Albion as a late Matt Garbett strike earned a 2-2 draw following an end to end encounter in PE2.

Posh scored inside three minutes and then deep into second half stoppage time with the visitors scoring from a huge deflected Charlie Webster effort and an audacious 45-yard lob from substitute Gbemi Arubi.

It was EDWARDS who opened the scoring, tapping home at the back post following a superb Harry Leonard centre. The visitors came close to an equaliser on nine minutes as Dennis struck the inside of the post.

A minute later, Carl Johnston was through on goal, but his dinked effort under pressure from the Burton back-line, went wide of the target.

Ethan Williams curled wide a minute later before Leonard and Ashfield saw shots blocked as Posh piled forward looking for a second goal.

On 25 minutes, a Bolu Shofowoke centre was fired over at the back post by Edwards and four minutes later, the Brewers equalised as a shot from WEBSTER deflected past Bass and into the back of the net.

Bass did well to tip over a long-range effort from Dennis before Vickers fired over as Burton pressed. Ashfield saw a shot superbly tipped around the post by Addai on 39 minutes.

In the second half, Rodrigues fired wide before Leonard was superbly denied by Addai following a long ball at the other end.

Arubi saw a shot well held by Bass after a well-crafted move before Kelly saw a powerful drive beaten away by Addai.

On 66 minutes, Arubi saw an acrobatic overhead kick go wide of the target after a good ball into the box. Williams was denied by Addai on 73 minutes and penalty appeals for a foul on Brandon Khela were turned down as the game entered the final quarter.

Two minutes from time, Burton got their noses in front as ARUBI produced a bit of magic from long-range as his lob sailed over Bass and into the top corner.

Kelly immediately skied a presentable chance over the bar before six minutes of added time was indicated by the fourth official.

Bass did brilliantly to keep out Arubi as he raced clean through on goal with Mills doing well to clear the loose ball.

That proved crucial as five minutes into stoppage time, substitute GARBETT fired home from close-range after Danny Ormerod's effort at the back post from a Vernon Masara cross had rebounded back into play via the post.
