Mind Motion

The Peterborough United Foundation caught up with Mindful Motion participant, Robin, about the positive impact their sessions have had on his mental and physical well-being.

Robin has been attending Mindful Motion since it began last year. He moved into Sudbury Court after suffering a stroke which left him with balance and memory problems. He felt isolated and was struggling with severe depression.

He initially attended to improve his balance and mobility, however, he has also discovered that the sessions have significantly improved his mental well-being.

Robin is a well-liked and helpful member of the group. He arrives early to set up the room and always stays to make the refreshments. Despite not always participating in the crafts, Robin enjoys games such as darts and skittles, which also help with his balance and mental health.

Having activities to suit everyone at the end of the exercise class has created a social space for people to get to know each other and help encourage one another to stay active. Robin has seen his mental health dramatically improve and no longer needs any medication for his depression.

Robin said: “I enjoy the exercises immensely and they have helped me both physically and mentally. I have enjoyed all the sessions, regardless of which member of staff from the Posh Foundation may be running them."
