Action between Posh U21s and Charlton Athletic U21s

The Posh Under 21s were beaten by Charlton Athletic at the Weston Homes Stadium in Professional Development action on Tuesday afternoon.

A Peterborough United Under 21 side, that was made up of trialists and players looking to impress, were beaten by a slick Charlton Athletic side in Professional Development League action on Tuesday afternoon at the Weston Homes Stadium.

The Addicks, who deployed a regular group of players for the fixture, eventually ran out 7-2 winners with two trialists on target for Posh.

Goalkeeper Bastian Smith made a host of good saves, including three within five minutes with his body at the end of the first half, as Posh took the chance to have a look at some players that are currently without clubs.

Ma'Kel Campbell tried to get things going from midfield, but it was tough going for the Posh youngsters in the spring sunshine.

Head of Recruitment, Analysis and PDP Coach Sam Gaughran said: "It was a tough day for the lads, putting trialists in with signed players is never easy, but it is a good opportunity for us at the club to have a look at players for next season and it is a busy schedule so we have to be careful about minutes."
