Action between Posh and Exeter City

It was a difficult day in Devon for Posh as the Grecians recorded a 3-0 victory at St. James Park.

It was another tough afternoon for Peterborough United as Exeter City recorded a 3-0 victory in Sky Bet League One action to ensure that Darren Ferguson's men remained bottom of the fledgling table.

On a wet afternoon, both sides struggled to create anything of note in front of goal with only a Vicente Reyes save from Josh Magennis to write home about inside the opening 20 minutes.

Posh, in particular from Matt Garbett, did look pleasing on the eye at times, but a combination of the final ball and a lack of belief held them back.

The opening goal of the game was an example of poor decision making following a deep cross into the box, because it allowed the Grecians to work the ball to Jayden WAREHAM who made no mistake from close-range.

Archie Collins and Kyrell Lisbie both saw shots blocked but Joe Whitworth in the Exeter goal was largely untroubled throughout.

In the second half, Posh made changes to try and get back into the game, but it was the home side who carried the threat all afternoon and they doubled their lead when MAGENNIS headed home a cross from the right.

The same man, MAGENNIS, made it 3-0 shortly afterwards, rising highest to direct a header into the bottom corner. Wareham fired wide with his left-foot and headed wide as the home side went in search of a fourth.

Manager Darren Ferguson confirmed afterwards that Declan Frith is expected to be out for four weeks with a knee injury and striker Bradley Ihionvien is expected to leave on loan.
