Peterborough United Women will look to add minutes across the board when they continue their pre-season programme at Derby County on Sunday (1pm).
Peterborough United Women continue their pre-season preparations on Sunday, as they travel to Derby County looking to build on the positives from the fixture with higher-ranked outfit Oxford United.
Jake Poole’s side will take on their National League North opposition in the third game of their pre-season calendar after respective trips to Gainsborough Trinity and the U’s.
The goals were shared among the group at Gainsborough as the team reported back for pre-season with a 6-1 win, before falling to defeat last time around at the home of Oxford City.
The Ewes’ most recent test ended in a 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers, with a trialist on the scoresheet for Sunday’s opponents.
TEAM NEWS
Goalkeeper Neive Corry picked up a slight knock in the defeat to Oxford United so recent addition to the squad Sophie Harris is set to be between the posts.
Manager Poole is away on holiday this weekend so Emily Sharpe will take charge of the side. Sharpe, who recently committed her future to the club for the 2025/26 campaign, will combine playing duties with coaching responsibilities this term and will be leading the side against the Ewes.
FROM THE COACH
"Sunday presents another valuable test for us as we build towards the new season. Facing a strong, established Tier 3 side will challenge us in all the right ways. It is important that we continue growing and developing together as a squad - adapting to different styles of play and getting valuable minutes in the legs. Sunday offers the perfect opportunity for that," coach Emily Sharpe said.
