We are pleased to confirm that winger Joe Davies has penned his first professional contract at the football club.
Davies (18) completed the formalities at the Weston Homes Stadium earlier this month and will continue his development within the Professional Development Phase of the Academy.
The winger scored the winner in the PDL League Cup final against Sheffield United at the back end of last season and has featured in games at both Under 18 and Under 21 level.
Academy Director Dan Robinson said: "Joe fits the bill of our wingers, he is bright, sharp and played a lot of games across both age groups last season. He is a very robust young man, bounces back with a smile on his face.
"It looks like he has worked really hard over the off season to bulk up and to be able to deal with the next level up on a consistent basis.
"He is a wide player that can operate on either flank, he has a relatively good goal-scoring record from all areas of the pitch and we are looking forward to seeing how he develops."
Davies, who hails from Milton Keynes, is determined to make the most of the opportunity and is already aiming to make an impression in pre-season.
"Last season was good for me, I managed to play a lot of games and ended the season with an award for Goal of the Season and that was nice to get the recognition for.
"The feeling of scoring the winner in the final was brilliant and everybody enjoyed the moment of lifting the trophy against the odds.
"For me, I want to continue to work as hard as a I can, try and impress in training and see where it takes me. I am a winger who likes to get at the full-back, create chances, assists and score goals. That is what you are always judged by as an attacking player," Davies said.
