After nearly a decade with the club, defender Niamh Connor has confirmed that she is departing the Peterborough United Women's team.

The centre back, who was part of the Posh side that secured promotion to Tier 3 for the first time in the club's history, is one of just six players to reach a century of appearances and departs with 146 to her name.

During that time, Connor scored 25 times and played a major part in the club's ascent through the leagues. She is looking forward to a new chapter and was full of gratitude for her time with the club.

Connor said: "Peterborough United has been my home for close to a decade and it is time for me to say goodbye. From the nervous 16-year-old girl stepping onto the pitch for the first time, to the player and person I am today, I will always be grateful for everything this club has given me.

"The team-mates who became lifelong friends, the staff who taught me so much, and the memories I will carry with me forever will always hold a special place in my heart.

"Leaving hasn't been easy, but sometimes you have to put yourself first and recognise when it is time for a new chapter. I will always be proud to have worn this shirt and represented this club in so many ways. No matter where football takes me next, a part of me will always be blue. Thank you for everything Posh 💙, Slabhead 💙."

Manager Jake Poole said: "Niamh has been an influential part of the football club for a number of years and has significantly contributed to the growth and success of the team over those years.

"To make nearly 150 appearances for the football club is a remarkable achievement and we thank her for her fantastic service to the club."

Director Iain Crawford said: "Somehow thank you doesn't seem enough. Niamh has been such an integral part of the team that has got us to Tier 3. Her contribution last season particularly, both defensively and the amount of goals she scored at the other end, will never be forgotten.

"She is such a big character and I know she will be missed. I wish her nothing but the best with her next move and I know she will be a wonderful addition for whomever she plays for next. Thank you Niamh."
