Action between Posh and MK Dons

Chris Conn-Clarke stepped off the substitutes bench to earn Posh a point at Stadium MK as Posh pick up first point on the road in Sky Bet League One action this season.

Peterborough United earned a 1-1 draw with Milton Keynes Dons at Stadium MK on Saturday afternoon with substitute Chris Conn-Clarke cancelling out Aaron Collins' first half opener.

In a game of few clear-cut opportunities, played without too much intensity and thrust, Luke Williams' side will be pleased to eek out their first point on the road and they would argue that a more substantial period of stoppage time might have yielded a winner as they were in the ascendency following that leveller.

After a fairly cagy start, it was Posh who carved out the first opportunity as Owura Edwards caused panic in the Dons back-line allowing Harry Leonard an effort on goal from a tight angle, but Will Dennis made a good stop.

Leonard flicked a Ben Woods cross wide of the target on 17 minutes before the goalkeeper did brilliantly to keep out a low Evan Weir strike from a tight angle.

On 28 minutes, MK Dons opened the scoring as a cross from the right was thundered against the bar by Nombe but COLLINS was there to snaffle the rebound, firing into the back of the net via the inside of the post.

Bass did well to keep out Dan Crowley moments later from range before Collins headed a free-kick wide of the target.

Posh made a triple substitution four minutes into the second half and that allowed them to create one or two more openings in front of goal - Shofowoke heading across goal from an Edwards cross.

Leonard saw a shot loop over the bar after more good work from the lively Edwards before Bass did well to keep out a stinging drive from Paterson.

Crowley had a glorious chance to make it 2-0 after a Khela error, but he blazed over with his right-foot before Posh were a whisker away from a leveller as Edwards ran from right to left, only to see his effort clip the outside of the post.

On 84 minutes, Posh levelled as substitute CONN-CLARKE whipped a right-footed curler into the corner with a number of bodies trying to claim a final touch. Conn-Clarke fired over from a free-kick three minutes from time with Nelson firing over at the other end as the game ended in a draw.
