Posh head to Essex this evening for the first pre-season friendly on UK soil following two games during the training camp in Spain.
Peterborough United travel to the JobServe Community Stadium to face Sky Bet League Two side Colchester United in a pre-season friendly this evening (7.45pm) as Luke Williams' side continue to build up minutes ahead of the start of the campaign.
After a 2-1 victory over FC Magpies from Gibraltar and a 0-0 draw with Saudi Pro League side Neom SC last week, the U's will provide the first test in this country with Peterborough Sports and Boston United also on the agenda this week.
TEAM NEWS
Posh are without the services of winger Declan Frith, due to a broken foot, while Tom O'Connor, Rio Adebisi and Sam Hughes continue to work their way back to full fitness following long injury lay-offs.
A number of younger players who travelled to Spain with the first team squad last week will continue to be involved including defenders Harry Bushell and Oliver Arber, midfielder Eddie Fox and wingers Benji McWilliams-Marcano and Ejiro Abbey set to feature.
OUR OPPONENTS
This has been a regular pre-season friendly between the two sides in recent years and given the amount of players that has been signed from the U's, that is somewhat unsurprising.
Frankie Kent, Kwame Poku, Bradley Ihionvien and Owura Edwards have all trodden that path with Ihionvien returning to Colchester in the summer in a loan deal until the end of the campaign. Posh also signed former U's star Sammie Szmodics shortly after he had moved to Bristol City.
Despite the departure of Kyreece Lisbie to Reading in the summer, there could still be two Lisbie's featuring with Kyrell's younger sibling Kaion catching the eye in the pre-season games to date.
