Young defender Fabian Claxton has signed an extension to his current deal after completing the formalities at the Weston Homes Stadium.
The Ipswich-born centre back had a strong end to the last campaign and Academy Director Dan Robinson believes he has all the attributes that are required in his position.
"He is tall, athletic, ball playing centre back that is somebody that fits our profile. Unfortunately he missed a large proportion of the first year of his scholarship due to illness and injury and not only that, but his performances this year has earned him an extra year.
"We are looking to see how he carries on his journey. He can win headers and tackles, but he can also play, so we see that as a perfect fit for what we are looking for," Robinson said.
Claxton is determined to make the most of the opportunity as he continues his progress as part of the Professional Development Phase within the Academy.
"Around this time last year, I had just had surgery on my groin, so it was a late start to the campaign, but I felt that I got stronger as the games came thick and fast when I was back involved and then it was all about working as hard as I could and helping the team win matches.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to have another year with the group and it is down to me to repay that faith and hopefully I can do that," Claxton said.
