Cardiff City Stadium

Posh get the new Sky Bet League One campaign underway on Saturday lunchtime with a trip to the Cardiff City Stadium (12.30pm).

Peterborough United travel to the Cardiff City Stadium to face Cardiff City in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday (12.30pm) with the Bluebirds installed as one of the favourites for promotion following relegation from the Sky Bet Championship last term.

It is a tough start on paper for Darren Ferguson's men with Luton Town the second opponents, but after a summer of arrivals and departures, it will be a fresh looking squad that makes the journey to the Cardiff City Stadium.

Posh go into the game on the back of a mixed-bag of results during pre-season with wins over Ipswich Town, Stamford, Peterborough Sports, Boston United and Milton Keynes Dons alongside draws against Kings Lynn Town and Colchester United.

TEAM NEWS

Posh are without the services of goalkeeper Alex Bass, who has been ruled out for six weeks, Will Blackmore, who is recovering from Covid and left-back Rio Adebisi, who is continuing his rehabilitation from a long-term injury.

New signings Vincente Reyes and Klaidi Lolos go straight into the squad after arriving from Norwich City and Bolton Wanderers respectively.

The Bluebirds have not strengthened their squad in terms of arrivals during the summer, but do boast a squad full of Championship players.

MANAGER QUOTES

"It is a tough start, but one that I am looking forward too. I am sure it will be a good atmosphere, it always is at Cardiff, their fans get behind their side and they will want to start with intensity. We have to match that intensity. I have been been happy with the work done in pre-season, we have managed to get new faces into the squad and remained relatively injury free," Darren Ferguson said.

Posh fans will be accommodated in the safe standing section in the corner of the stadium. A total of just over 1,100 have been sold with fans urged to get tickets before the 3pm cut-off period.
