Poppie Brown with Dan Lawlor

Brown promoted to the Posh Women’s first team after impressive displays during pre-season.

Peterborough United Women can confirm that youngster Poppie Brown has been permanently promoted to the first team following a number of impressive displays in pre-season.

Brown, who has been part of the Girls Academy at under 16s level, was invited on to the pre-season camp at Worksop College last month and has featured in all first team’s games so far, including standout performances against higher-level Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town.

Manager Dan Lawlor said: “Poppie has deserved this after some excellent performances, I couldn’t praise her anymore. She has been fantastic, especially for a player her age to step in and perform to the level she has is magnificent. The level she has performed at has been remarkable, she’s not phased by the experienced players in this division and is willing to get stuck in. But, also technically and tactically she has been brilliant, so she deserves this opportunity and is a player who will definitely impact the first team this season.”

Girls Academy Manager Chloe Brown said: “Poppie has worked hard since joining the Girls Academy and we know that she will have a real impact on the first team this season. I am really pleased to see our first academy player getting a first team place after only a year of us running and I’m sure there will be more to follow I'm sure."
