Bromley

Posh head to the CopperJax Community Stadium to face Bromley in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

Peterborough United are back in action on Saturday as they make the trip to the CopperJax Community Stadium to face a Bromley side who parted company with their long-serving manager Andy Woodman.

It certainly came as a surprise to those within the game that Woodman lost his job after five years in the post. Woodman joined Bromley in 2021 and in his first managerial role, oversaw the most successful period in the club's history, winning three trophies and guiding them into the Football League for the first time in their history.

Bromley won the Sky Bet League Two title last term, securing a second promotion on his watch, with Woodman named the division's manager of the year for 2025/26.

They have named Byron Webster as their interim boss with former York City chief Stuart Maynard the favourite to take over.

Posh go into the game on the back of a 4-1 defeat at promotion contenders Huddersfield Town while Bromley were beaten 4-0 by a resurgent Leicester City on Tuesday evening.

TEAM NEWS

Experienced defender Tom O'Connor is available for selection after injury and is expected to be named in the squad, but midfielder Ben Woods is set to be out for six weeks following a knee injury.

Sam Hughes played his first minutes in nearly 18 months in the Under 21s this week and will continue his return to fitness next week with more minutes. Matt Garbett is rated as a doubt after picking up a knock on Tuesday evening.

Jodi Jones is pushing for a start after coming off the bench in midweek, but with a change in manager, it is hard to predict what personnel will be in that starting XI.

ONE TO WATCH

Michael Cheek

Michael Cheek (pictured below) scores goals wherever he goes and his time at Bromley has proved to be no different. The 2020/21 season saw the prolific striker pick up the National League Golden Boot award, bagging 21 goals, nine more than his first campaign with the club.

Many wondered how Bromley’s number nine would fare in League Two, but they weren’t left wondering for long, as the frontman dispatched a whopping 25 league goals, as well as notching eight assists – this remarkable campaign won Cheek the League Two Player of the Season.

Cheek has picked up where he left off this season, bagging two goals and one assist in Bromley’s opening six league games.

MANAGER QUOTES

"We know that on Tuesday night there were big moments in the game and they didn't go our way, we know we need to be more clinical in both boxes. We have to take our chances and be more ruthless, but we are working hard on that. We want to go there on Saturday and put in a positive performance for the 900 Posh fans that are making the trip," Robbie Savage said.
