Posh make the trip to the Memorial Stadium to take on Sky Bet League Two side Bristol Rovers in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Saturday afternoon (3pm).
Peterborough United return to competitive action this weekend as they take on Steve Evans' Bristol Rovers in the first round of the Carabao Cup (3pm) with Luke Williams' side looking to start the season in a positive manner.
The Pirates finished 14th in Sky Bet League Two last season after a set of impressive results when Evans was appointed and they are among the favourites for promotion this term.
Should the tie be level after 90 minutes, the game will go straight to penalty kicks.
TEAM NEWS
Posh are without the services of Declan Frith, Rio Adebisi and Matt Garbett, while George Nevett is working his way back to fitness following a wrist injury sustained in the final pre-season friendly during the training camp in Spain.
Tom O'Connor and Sam Hughes are expected to be involved after completing their rehab while several summer signings could make their competitive debuts for the club.
Promise Omochere and Jack Sparkes are both doubts for the tie while Ryan Howley missed the Pirates pre-season trip to Scotland with injury. Ex-Posh midfielder Ryan De Havilland could feature against his former club.

FABRIZIO CAVEGN
Fabrizio Cavegn (pictured below) joined Bristol Rovers from FC Vaduz in August 2025, securing a three-year contract with the Club with an option of a further season.
After joining Rovers last summer, Cavegn made his debut for the Pirates off the bench against Fleetwood Town in Sky Bet League Two. The striker struck his first two goals for the Club in a 4-4 draw with Spurs Under 21s in the Vertu Trophy before getting his opening league goal in a 2-1 victory over Barrow.
The 24-year-old also hit a memorable hat-trick away to Shrewsbury Town to help Steve Evans to his first win in charge, with his trio of efforts also pushing him up to 12 goals for the campaign. Overall, Cavegn netted 15 goals across 51 appearances in his first season at the Pirates.
