Blackpool v Posh

A look ahead to Saturday’s trip to Bloomfield Road to face Blackpool in Sky Bet League One action (3pm).

Peterborough United make the journey north to face Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Saturday afternoon (3pm) in Sky Bet League One action looking to build on the gritty 1-0 win at Port Vale in mid-week.

The Seasiders were 3-2 victors over Cheltenham Town and go into the game in good form themselves, moving into the top six following that success over the Robins on Tuesday night. They also have one of the most in-form finishers in the league in the form of former Huddersfield Town front man Jordan Rhodes.

TEAM NEWS

Posh are without the services of goalkeeper Will Blackmore and midfielder Jeando Fuchs due to injury, while Malik Mothersille is expected to return to action on Tuesday night when Darren Ferguson’s men meet Tottenham Hotspur under 21s in the EFL Trophy.

Archie Collins is suspended after collecting his fifth booking at Port Vale on Tuesday night, but he would have missed the game anyway through concussion. Jadel Katongo and Ryan De Havilland will be the two players fighting for his spot in the side.

Blackpool are not likely to tinker too much with their starting line-up as they continued their recent good form with a win over Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night at Bloomfield Road. Oliver Norburn has missed the last few games with a neck injury, but could return against his former club.

ONE TO WATCH

Jordan Rhodes (pictured below) is the man in form and his goals of late have been the perfect description of ‘poacher’ – he has diverted a couple of shots from long-range into the back of the net as well as being a predator in the six-yard box. The experienced marksmen joined the Seasiders ahead of the transfer window and has been arguably the signing of the League One window.

FROM THE MANAGER

“Blackpool have one of the best squads for me in the division and they are in good form. This is the fourth side in the top six that we have faced away from home this season and it will be a difficult game. Jordan Rhodes is in very good form, and he was spoken about in the pre-match meeting, but they have threats from all areas of the pitch. We need to defend well, but we also need to be better in possession,” Darren Ferguson said.

TICKET NEWS

Just over 750 tickets have been sold in advance of the game. Blackpool have intimated that Posh fans can pay on the day with cash or card accepted.

POSH+

Match passes are available to purchase for £10 for overseas subscribers with audio passes available in the UK for £5. George Boyd will join Nilesh Patel and Chris Dowsett on commentary.

HEAD TO HEAD

Marcus Maddison scored the only goal of the game in the last win at Bloomfield Road for Posh back in 2019. Prior to that, the only other win in recent times came in 2013, again by a solitary goal, this time thanks to Kane Ferdinand (pictured below).
