Barnsley

Posh make the trip to Oakwell to face Barnsley on Tuesday evening in Sky Bet League One action (7.45pm).

Peterborough United complete a difficult run of away games with a trip to Barnsley on Tuesday evening (7.45pm) in Sky Bet League One action as Luke Williams' side look to bounce back from the 2-0 defeat at Bradford City.

The Tykes drew 3-3 with AFC Wimbledon in their last fixture, a demonstration that scoring goals is not a problem, however they are susceptible to conceding at the other end.

TEAM NEWS

Posh are without the services of experienced defender Tom Lees, who suffered a calf injury in the warm-up ahead of the clash with Bradford. Lees will undergo a scan on Monday evening to reveal the full extent of the damage, but initial observations are not positive.

Matt Garbett is set to miss three more games with his ankle injury, while Harley Mills, Sam Hughes and Ben Woods are nearing fitness. Rio Adebisi and Jacob Mendy remain sidelined.

Barnsley have won just one of the last six games following the departure of Davis Keillor-Dunn, but can still call upon the experience of David McGoldrick, who remains a threat at this level.

ONE TO WATCH

Adam Phillips

Phillips (pictured below) is one of the Tykes longest-serving players having joined the club back in 2022. He spent over a decade within the youth ranks at Premier League giants Liverpool and has gone on to become one of the most consistent midfielders in the division.

He has a great knack of scoring important goals and is a threat from distance, both in open play and from set-pieces. He is expected to provide a real threat in behind the Tykes attack.

MANAGER QUOTES

"Barnsley are a side that are a bit out of form, but that can happen at this level, there is no doubt they are a side that can cause you plenty of problems and we know it is an incredibly tough game, particularly after the week that we have had. We will go there and be positive and try and come away with a good result," Williams said.
