Striker Pemi Aderoju has put pen to paper on a long-term contract.
Peterborough United front man Pemi Aderoju has committed his long-term future to the football club, putting pen to paper on a long-term contract.
The 21-year-old, who scored his first goal for the club in the recent 6-1 win over Wigan Athletic, completed the formalities over the weekend and expressed his gratitude to the management team, Director of Football Barry Fry and chairman Darragh MacAnthony for the faith shown in him.
"A lot of hard work has gone into getting me where I am today and the manager, his assistant, Barry Fry and Darragh MacAnthony have showed a lot of faith in me and now it is about taking the opportunity I have been given.
"As a player, one of the most important things is having that backing of the management staff and knowing they want you to do well and believe you can do well. It gives you confidence, that trust is really key.
"I want to continue to improve and develop over the next few years and hopefully build on what I have managed to do in my time at the club and out on-loan with Boston United and Eastbourne.
"Those loan spells have really helped me. I would have liked to have played more games at Boston United, but I was at a decent level and I learned a lot from my time there and obviously at Eastbourne, I scored a lot of goals at a decent level and enjoyed my time there.
"Since I have been back at the club, I have really enjoyed working with the management team and the coaches. They have helped me and I have tried to learn and improve all facets of my game," Aderoju said.
Manager Luke Williams added: "Pemi has showed a lot of promise in the Under 21s and on-loan at Eastbourne and he has shown us some glimpses in the first team so we have high expectations for him and are delighted he has signed a new contract.
"I think he has a good role model in terms of Harry Leonard, he is forging his way in the game too and has made a strong impact at the level so that will give Pemi some really valuable examples to follow."
