Ejiro Abbey

Following a successful spell on trial with the Posh Under 21s, Ejiro Abbey has penned a deal with the football club with the winger completing the formalities at the Bespoke Builds Training Ground.

The winger, who featured for the Under 21s prior to Christmas, will add to Under 21s Lead Coach Sam Gaughran's options in the second half of the campaign as they look to maintain a strong start to the Professional Development League season.

Abbey, who spent time in Reading's Academy was spotted by Posh scouts playing for Binfield in the Isthmian League South Central Division and after making an instant impact on his arrival in PE2, the club have moved to secure his immediate future.

"As soon as I walked through the door, I was made to feel incredibly welcome, by my team-mates and by the coaches and it felt like the perfect place for me to try and show what I can do.

"Obviously as a winger, my job is to create and score goals for the team, so there is a little pressure when you are on trial, but I just tried to play my game and I am delighted that I am here for longer," Abbey said.

Academy Director Dan Robinson said: "Ejiro is another example of a player plying their trade in non-league football having previously been at a professional Academy and his performances have caught the eye of our scouts.

"Having completed a successful trial period, we are delighted to offer him professional terms. He is an exciting player and someone we are looking forward to seeing play regularly for us within the 21s."

Lead Under 21s Coach Sam Gaughran said: "He is an exciting player, he is direct, positive, wants to get at the full-back and has some good outcomes already this season in terms of goals and assists."
