The Women return to league action this weekend with a clash against Leek Town at Red Industries Lyme Valley Stadium.

Peterborough United Women travel to Red Industries Lyme Valley Stadium to face Leek Town Ladies in a FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands clash on Sunday afternoon (3pm).

After a difficult defeat against Long Eaton United Ladies in the FA Women’s National League Cup last weekend, Posh will be eager to maintain their positive start to their National League campaign this weekend.

Similarly to Posh, Leek Town Ladies also secured promotion to the National League this summer, enjoying their first campaign at step-four level with six points in the opening five games.

Team News

The Women welcomed back goalkeeper Sophie Powell to the bench last Sunday and will be involved in the reserves clash against Kettering Town Ladies on Sunday at the Idverde Training Ground. Katie Cooper is set to remain in-between the sticks for the first team after an impressive start to the season. Beatriz Borque will be unavailable for this weekend fixture alongside Hollie Lewis (ankle).

From the Gaffer

“We want to keep this momentum going in the league even though we had a few draws and a loss, it has still been positive performances, and if we continue to do that the three points will start coming.

“Leek Town has come into the league fresh and with a point to prove, exactly like us. We don’t know much about them, and that’s almost a little better for us because we’re not going in with any ideas on how they’re going to play. So, for us just to go there and play our football, I’m confident if we play our way, and well, we can beat anyone in that league.”

The Reserves

The Women welcome Kettering Town Women on Sunday (2pm) at Idverde Training Ground in an East Midlands Women's Regional Football League. Wayne Hinds’ side returns to action this weekend after a week break and will be keen to maintain their unbeaten start to the season after a comfortable 0-3 victory over Ilkeston Town Ladies in their previous fixture and have yet to concede a single goal.

Their opposition has endured a difficult start to their campaign with two losses on the bounce, including a 7-3 defeat against Oadby & Wigston Ladies in their last East Midlands Women's Regional Football League game.
