The Women return to FA Women’s National League this weekend.

After a lengthy break from domestic league action, Peterborough United Women face another trip on the road as they travel to Dickens Heath Sports Club on Sunday (2pm) to face Leafield Athletic in a FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands fixture.

Chloe Brown’s side enter Sunday’s game on the back of consecutive victories in cup competitions, netting 36 goals overall, but will be keen for a victory on Sunday to get back to winning ways in the National League.

Leafield Athletic have endured a mixed start to the season, finding themselves two spots and two points ahead of The Women in the table, but also come into the game on the back off a rampant victory in the FA Cup third qualifying round.

Team News

No significant news in terms of injuries for Brown, with Piper O’Neill and Hollie Lewis still remain out for this weekend’s trip. Although both are slowly re-joining the squad in training and hope to return to the matchday squad in the next few weeks.

With those players still unavailable, some reserve players will be looking for a call-up to the first-team ahead of the game against Leafield Athletic, including Destiny Makanjuola who put in a terrific display against Sporting Khalsa earlier this month.

In more positive news, Beatriz Borque return to the squad this week and could be available for the trip on Sunday.

From the Gaffer

“Their results have been up and down, same as ours, so it’s a game where we need to go in with confidence and compete against Leafield Athletic, but they have had some good results in recent weeks and will also be high in confidence heading into Sunday. These last two victories have really increased the positivity within the squad and we obviously want to continue that this weekend, hopefully winning three games on the bounce before another month of cup competitions.”
