Posh make the trip to the Keepmoat to face Doncaster Rovers in the final Sky Bet League One game of the season.

Peterborough United conclude a hugely successful Sky Bet League One campaign on Sunday lunchtime with a trip to face Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium (12pm) in what will be the final game for Rovers legend James Coppinger as he bows out after 694 games in the red and white.

Darren Ferguson’s men are expected to form a guard of honour for the midfielder, who Ferguson managed during his time at the club. He described him as a ‘legend’ and ‘one of the best players he has ever worked with’ but is hoping to conclude the campaign with three points.

The two sides drew 2-2 at the Weston Homes Stadium last month, a result that delayed the Posh promotion party, which kicked off in full swing against Lincoln City following a last minute penalty from Jonson Clarke-Harris.

TEAM NEWS

Posh are expected to make wholesale changes to their side with goalkeeper Christy Pym back between the sticks after injury. Josef Bursik has returned to Stoke City following his short loan spell. Jack Taylor is awaiting a scan on a hamstring injury and won’t feature, while Clarke-Harris might be rested.

Ronnie Edwards, Ricky-Jade Jones and Harrison Burrows are all pushing for starts as Ferguson looks to freshen up his starting line-up. Doncaster could also re-jig their starting line-up following defeat at Blackpool in midweek with former Posh front man Omar Bogle in line for a start.

FROM THE GAFFER

“We will make changes, but we are not going there for a jolly-up, we want to end the season well and come away with a win. Christy will be back between the sticks. He has been a really good signing for us. Ronnie Edwards is in my thinking too, he has been on the sidelines for a few months now but is fit again. We want to end the season in a positive manner, I feel the team I select will be good enough to go there and win,” Ferguson said.
