Posh are back in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday afternoon.
Peterborough United make the journey north to face Rochdale at Spotland in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday afternoon with Darren Ferguson’s men looking to build on Tuesday night’s 1-0 victory over Portsmouth at the Weston Homes Stadium.
That victory kept Posh in the automatic promotion places ahead of the clash with Dale, who were winners over Lincoln City in their last fixture thanks to goals from Ollie Rathbone and Stephen Humphrys.
Posh are waiting on the fitness of Sammie Szmodics, who has been nursing an ankle injury sustained in training. He missed the win over Portsmouth and has been rated as 50-50 for the trip to Spotland with Tuesday night’s trip to Blackpool also on the horizon.
Ronnie Edwards is continuing his rehab from a muscular injury while Jack Taylor is still side-lined with a hamstring injury. Ethan Hamilton returns from suspension and could face one of his former clubs, although Louis Reed impressed in the win over Pompey. Siriki Dembele took numerous bumps and bruises on Tuesday night but Darren Ferguson expects him to be fit.
Talented teenager Kwadwo Baah was an unused substitute in their last fixture, but the exciting winger is expected to return to the starting line-up for the visit of Posh after impressing since breaking through at the club. He has already been linked with a host of clubs ahead of the summer.
FROM THE GAFFER
“Rochdale are fighting for their lives and had an excellent win against Lincoln. I have watched that game and several others of late and they have quality. They like to play, they perhaps don’t do it as often early on in games, but that may change for the game with us, but we have to remain focussed on what the job in hand is for us. We have shown that we can win in different ways, if it is a scrap, then we must show those fighting qualities that got us over the line against Portsmouth,” Darren Ferguson said.
