An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Peterborough United Football Club Academy Performance Support Department for the 2021-22 Season.

We are actively seeking Sports Therapists to join our team to provide a high standard of matchday medical provisions, as well as occasional training cover on a sessional basis (when required). The positions will be on a causal/rota basis and will be renumerated at a sessional fee.

Job Title: Matchday Therapist

Reports to: Senior Academy Physiotherapist

Job Purpose:

To provide a high level of medical provisions for Foundation and Youth Development Phases matches/training (U9-U16).

Job Overview

The post holder will be responsible for providing match day cover for the Academy U9-U16 age groups, as well as training sessions depending on requirements. The job holder will be responsible for uploading all information required to the Performance Management Application and ensure all reports are fed directly into the Senior Academy Physiotherapist. The job holder should be able to assist in the development of the Performance Support department through the development of evidence-based protocols and in-service training.

Key Skills and Experience Required:

Essential

BSc Sports Therapy/Physiotherapy

FA Level 4 Intermediate Trauma Medical

Management in Football (ITMMiF) – or willingness/ability to obtain within 3 months

Good communication & interpersonal skills

Key Skills and Experience Required:

Experience using PMA

Experience of working in Academy Football

Experience of providing Medical Match Cover

Organisational and administrational skills

Ability to work within a team effectively and efficiently

In-date Safeguarding Certificate

Main Duties and Key Responsibilities

Attend YDP/FP fixtures as pitch-side therapist as and when required.

Assist in the continuous research and development of phased rehabilitation protocols to progress player’s rehabilitation in a controlled and specific manor

Responsible for ensuring the Lead Academy Physiotherapist is informed about injuries occurring during weekend games.

To attend and contribute to the departments in-service CPD programme.

Attend any relevant training requirements e.g. first aid, safeguarding children.

Contribute Medical Data for Player Phase Reviews

Ensure health and safety, safeguarding children and equality and diversity procedures are implemented, and recorded and upheld in line with club policy.
