Posh travel to Shrewsbury in League One action on Saturday (3pm).

Peterborough United will be looking to continue their current good run of form when they travel to Steve Cotterill’s Shrewsbury Town on Saturday in Sky Bet League One action (3pm), but manager Darren Ferguson knows it will be a tough proposition with the Shrews in excellent form themselves since Christmas.

The Shrews have had games postponed due to Covid-19 outbreaks including to their manager Cotterill who was hospitalised earlier this year. Posh go into the game off the back of a 0-0 draw with Bristol Rovers and sit third in the League One table.

TEAM NEWS

Posh welcome back Joe Ward from a muscular injury but central defender Ronnie Edwards is not set to travel. He could feature for the under 18s at Gillingham on Saturday alongside Flynn Clarke with the pair set to start the Papa John’s Trophy tie at Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday evening.

Shrewsbury are expected to hand Nathanael Ogbeta his debut after the left-back arrived from Manchester City earlier this week. The Shrews were due to face Burton Albion on Tuesday evening, but the game was called off because of positive cases of Covid-19 within the Albion camp.

FROM THE GAFFER

“Shrewsbury have done very well since Steve has come into the club, they play a similar system to the one we have of late and they are good defensively. They have had a few games postponed because of Covid-19 and I know that Steve was in hospital earlier this month, so I hope he is on the mend and back to full health as soon as possible. For ourselves, we have Joe Ward back and that means we have good options at wing-back and touch wood, across the whole squad we have good depth,” Darren Ferguson said.
