Matthew Etherington’s men beaten by Cardiff City in latest league fixture.

The Peterborough United under 23s were beaten 3-1 by Cardiff City on Sunday afternoon in the latest league fixture with manager Matthew Etherington admitting that his side probably didn’t deserve anything from the fixture.

Andrew Oluwabori netted the Posh goal, but two further goals in the second half secured all three points for the Bluebirds. Etherington said: “We started both halves okay for 10 or 15 minutes, but the rest of the performance was mediocre if I am honest. I didn’t like too much of what I saw so there is plenty to work on.

“There wasn’t too much in the game, not too many chances, Andrew scored a good goal from a decent move, but there are a lot of areas we need to improve in. It is a new group, we need to get to know each other a little more and I am sure over time it will improve. It wasn’t a performance that I liked particularly, a combination of everything contributed to that.

“It was a long journey, this league has a lot of distance that we have to travel, you need to have the right mindset. We did things right, we travelled earlier, we had a pre-match, a team meeting, so there were no excuses, but the character of our performance was not where it needed to be.”

Posh: Blackmore, Powell, Fernandes, O’Connell, Peters, Bojang, Barker, Harris, Poku, Trialist A, Oluwabori.
