Posh host Gillingham at the Weston Homes Stadium on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).

Peterborough United welcome Gillingham to the Weston Homes Stadium in Sky Bet League One action on Tuesday evening (7.45pm) with Darren Ferguson’s men looking to build on Friday night’s local derby victory over Northampton Town.

Steve Evans’ Gills side were beaten 3-2 by Oxford United on Saturday evening, which was a blow to their play-off chances, but they will still feel they have the opportunity to gate-crash the party with other clubs in around the top six dropping points.

Posh won the reverse fixture at Priestfield 3-1 but only after a much-improved second half display with Siriki Dembele and a double from Jonson Clarke-Harris securing all three points after John Akinde’s first half spot-kick.

TEAM NEWS

Posh are without the services of goalkeeper Christy Pym due to side injury, but other than that, Posh have a clean bill of health and the latest Covid-19 test also produced an all-clear. Gillingham could rotate their squad after a busy spell of fixtures with Dominic Samuel one of those that could be given a starting berth.

FROM THE GAFFER

“The reverse fixture earlier in the season was a good example of if you don’t get things right, particularly against Gillingham. We were below par in the first half, but in the second half we were excellent and I have spoken to the players about that ahead of this game. They are well organised and can pen you in if you let them. I know Steve feels they are out of the play-off picture, I don’t believe they are and regardless, whenever you play Gillingham under Steve, you know it will be a tough test,” Darren Ferguson said.

FROM THE OPPOSITION

“We are not in the mix anymore, but we'll go and try to represent the Football Club with some real pride on Tuesday when we take on, for me, a team that is absolutely outstanding. It will be very tough,” Steve Evans said.
