Club have issued a short statement re the pilot game application invited by the EFL.
At 11.30am on Tuesday morning, the EFL sent an email inviting clubs to apply to stage a limited number of pilot events with a maximum capacity of 1,000 supporters at league matches played this weekend (September 19/20) subject to application and selection that had to be answered by 2.00pm at the latest.
However, after discussions with the local authority, we were informed that due to the current local infection rates within the city, we would be refused by Public Health England on the grounds of safety.
Whilst disappointing, we accept the reasons that were given and look forward to potentially hosting a pilot event soon.
