Help raise money for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice and decide the fate of one man’s beard.

A Lockdown beard that is spiralling out of control, or facial hair that adds to the man’s features – should it stay or should it go?

Mark Woods, CEO of CMAT, the Academy trust that runs Nene Park Academy, our partner school, has been growing his own feral Lockdown beard since the 20th March 2020. No shaving, no trimming, no fancy manscaping- just the real deal as it comes.

Initially, Mark swore he would not touch his beard until all students were back in school full time. However, seeing what a natural beauty the said beard has blossomed into, he thought he would give you, the Peterborough public, the choice as to what he does next..

We have set up two campaigns-

1). Shave (Ban the Beard):  Mark will give his beard a good trim or remove it completely (to the relief of his family!) and at least return to looking as near respectable as he has ever managed.

2). Santa: Mark pledges to turn into CMAT's (or other associated organisations) very own Santa Claus: no shaving until school breaks up for Christmas.

Your job? Donate to whichever campaign you support! All your generous donations will go straight to Sue Ryder, a charity supporting people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition – they’re there when it matters.

Their doctors, nurses and carers give people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live the best life they possibly can. Whichever campaign has the most donations by the cut-off date, midnight on September 30th 2020, wins!

Posh Academy Manager Kieran Scarff said: “In my opinion, it is a simple decision, the beard stays. I can’t actually remember what he looks like without the facial hair. With Christmas just around the corner, a second job could well be in the offing.”

Posh manager Darren Ferguson agrees: “I have been known to grow a bit of a beard before, albeit it was down to laziness occasionally, and it definitely looks the part. I am with Kieran, stick it out, see how long it can grow.”
