The Posh Academy staff are raising money for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice with a running challenge.

The ALLIANZ Arena in Munich, Germany, is 758 miles from the home of Peterborough United, the Weston Homes Stadium and staff from the Posh Academy have set themselves the challenge of collectively running that distance to raise funds for the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall and at the 10-day stage they had covered a whopping 542 miles, well on their way to their target.

All full-time Academy staff will be participating, including under 18s boss Matthew Etherington and assistant Simon Davies as well as Academy Manager Kieran Scarff with the ‘VirtualRunToMunich’ well underway with the conclusion on 31st May – that is 758 miles in just 25 days.

Throughout the challenge, the staff will be providing updates of their progress as they utilise the allotted exercise period set out by the government and in-house treadmills. Joining Etherington, Davies and Scarff will be Bruno Porfiro, Elio Salerno, James Baum, Evagoras Christofi, Matty Dye, Sam Gaughran, Kayleigh Stent, Lawrence Clarke, Alicia Rangolam and Paolo Di Fabrizio.

Over £450 has already been raised for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice with Scarff describing the effort as 'incredible'. According to sources, there are a lot of 'wooden looking' people completing the challenge.

Academy Manager Kieran Scarff said: “As staff, we are very aware that charities have been hit hard by the pandemic with major fund-raising activities cancelled and we wanted to offer our support. Thorpe Hall is a local charity that has and will continue to support so many families from in and around the city so we wanted to do something to help while staying fit in the process.”
