Decision to ‘null and void’ league is gutting for Ladies’ squad and management.

While the Premier League, EFL and National League are yet to make a decision on the outcome of the current league campaign, the FA have announced that the results below that level in the football pyramid and across the women’s game below a certain level will be expunged essentially making the results null and void.

That decision has left the Posh Ladies squad and management devastated. After just one defeat this season against higher league opposition in the FA Cup, they were 12 points clear at the top of the league, in the final of the County Cup and the semi-finals of the League Cup as the season entered its final stretch. They were undefeated in the league.

Boss Kathryn Lusk said: “We are obviously extremely disappointed with the decision. It will take a while to accept, but this is a very special and talented squad and I have no doubt they will bounce back next season and finish the job.

“I am still extremely proud of everything we have achieved on and off the field this season and would like to thank the players, staff and supporters for the part they have played. For now, everyone needs to concentrate on keeping safe and well and the squad will pick up again as soon as is physically possible.” The players have described the decision as ‘extremely gutting’ with many taking to social media to express their disappointment at the outcome.

Co-owner of the football club Jason Neale said: “Myself, Darragh and Stewart are bitterly disappointed that our high-flying ladies’ team will not be able to finish their season. We remain fully committed to supporting the team in the coming years.

“Next season will see a “viewing stand” to enable fans to watch our ladies and increased access to the club’s infrastructure. I personally look forward to sitting in the stand and watching our team gain promotion next season.”
