Rochdale are the visitors to the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

Peterborough United welcome Rochdale to the Weston Homes Stadium in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday afternoon (3pm) with Darren Ferguson’s men looking to build on the positive performance against West Ham United under 21s in the second round of the Papa John’s Trophy on Tuesday evening.

Dale arrive with a decent away record, which included an emphatic 4-0 victory at Home Park against Plymouth Argyle. Ivan Toney was among the goal-scorers the last time the two sides met at the Weston Homes Stadium; Posh running out comfortable 6-0 winners.

TEAM NEWS

Dan Butler (calf) is unavailable for this fixture but is making good progress in his recovery while Ricky-Jade Jones is ahead of schedule and could feature before Christmas. Joe Ward (knee) will be out until the 29th December with the Charlton fixture pencilled in for his return.

Stephen Humphrys is expected to lead the line for Dale despite being substituted in the weekend defeat to Lincoln City. The former Southend United front man is a talented performer at this level while Ollie Rathbone is sure to be a threat after a decent start to the campaign.

MANAGER QUOTES

“Rochdale showed in their win at Plymouth that they can be a difficult team to play against. Not many people go to Plymouth and win let alone win 4-0. They keep possession well, you have to be organised both in and out of possession against them, but Saturday is all about what we do and hopefully we can take the positives from this week into the game. We know that we have had a dip in results and we need to put that right. It was great having fans back on Tuesday and it will be great to see some more of them on Saturday.

“The supporters can really make a difference. They gave us an energy on Tuesday evening and hopefully that will be the case again. Sometimes less can be more in terms of numbers, I am sure those in attendance will be loud and vocal and back the players and help them through,” Darren Ferguson said.
