Posh clash with Doncaster postponed due to positive cases of Covid-19 in Doncaster camp.

Peterborough United’s scheduled Sky Bet League One fixture with Doncaster Rovers at the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday 2nd January has been postponed due to positive cases of Covid-19 in the Doncaster camp.

A new date for the game will be arranged in due course. Darren Ferguson’s men have returned to training following recent postponements against Ipswich Town, Gillingham and Charlton Athletic and are next due in action at league leaders Lincoln City on Saturday 9th January, a fixture which is due to be televised live on Sky Sports.

The EFL have issued a statement in relation to the postponement, which reads: “Doncaster Rovers’ next three Sky Bet League One fixtures have been suspended.

“The Club has advised the EFL it is unable to fulfil the fixtures due to an outbreak of Covid-19, with players and first-team staff required to self-isolate in line with EFL and Government guidance.

“As a result, the upcoming fixtures with Fleetwood Town, Peterborough United and Oxford United have all been suspended and the circumstances surrounding the postponements will now be the subject of an investigation in accordance with EFL Regulations. Revised dates for the rearranged fixtures will be confirmed in due course.”
